MY LOVE IS LIKE A RED RED ROSE

© M. A. KASSEL

"My Love is like a red red nose lodged in a wino's face
It walks in beauty like a night broadsided by a mace
Twas by the shores of gichee-goomie wand'ring lonely like a cloud
Two paths sivurged in the yellow wood
And I don't think little big girls should
But there is no joy for Ethel, Mighty Casey has struck out
While, under the spreading Chestnut tree, the village smithy lives
His head is green and his hands are blue and he went to sea in a sieve
Then, up from the rooftop these rose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter
A raven was croaking "Nevermore"
With Eight tiny Reindeer and the lost Lenore
Then into the Valley of Death did they thunder
Though it was clear that someone had blundered
For theirs was not to reason why
When, suddenly, to my surprise
They did the Mash, they did the Monster Mash
They did the Mash, it was a graveyard smash
They did the Mash, it caught on in a flash
They did the Mash, they did the Monster Mash
Then the Assyrian descended like wolves on the fold
But they stood their ground like days of old
In April of seventeen seventy-five
All for one and all that Jive
The Vorpal blade snickered thru and thru
And down on the ground lay Dan McGrew

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?"
"We have indeed," they grinned
"Then by my right hand,
You"re a better man
Than I am, Gunga Din".
