OHIO

Album: 4 Way Street

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young,

This song describes a historical event in America during the Vietnam War.
It is about the shootings that took place at Kent State University on May 4, 1970,
when the National Guard opened fire on a large group of protesters and killed four people.
Many wondered if the Constitution still protected our right to assemble or not.

Kent State

"It's still hard to believe I had to write this song.
It's ironic that I capitalized on the death of these American students.
Probably the most important lesson ever learned at an American place of learning.
David Crosby cried after this take."

Lyrics

Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Four dead in Ohio

Four dead in Ohio.

There are days in our lives that we never forget. This was one of those days for me and many of my generation.
Even after all these years my tears still fall when I look at this photo. ... nicole,sfheart.com
