Kezar Stadium
Frederick and Stanyan Streets

Mary Kezar left $100,000 in her will to construct the Kezar stadium in 1924. It was the home of the San Francisco 49ers until 1970.

There was a Three day Wild West Festival at Kezar Stadium in August 1969 with Janis Joplin, Turk Murphy, Jefferson Airplane, the Dead, Country Joe, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone and the Youngbloods.

Bill Graham started his "Day on the Green" series in May 1973 with The  Grateful Dead, and Riders of the Purple Sage. The next month it was Led Zeppelin with the Tubes opening the show. In 1975 in a benefit to aid the after-school sports programs he gave a concert that was broadcast live on K101-FM and featuring Neil Young, Grateful Dead,Jefferson Starship,Tower of Power,Doobie Brothers,Santana and surprise guest, Bob Dylan. The concert raised a lot of money but the next day the money that had been missing from the budget for the after school sports fund was suddenly found by the city.
That is how it often goes here in San Francisco. One day they report that we have hardly any money for anything and the next day suddenly we are rolling in dough.
