Bimbos 365 Club
1025 Coumbus Avenue

Bimbo's 365 Club was originally at 365 Market Street and operated as a legitimate supper club. From 1931 to 1951, Bimbo (Agostino Giuntoli) operated a speakeasy and after hours joint.  He then opened the Art Deco club called Bimbos. nightclub. He retired in 1970 and his grandson,Michael Cerchiai took over.
It was the home of The Girl in the Fish Bowl created by illusionist Steve Shepherd. Rita Hayworth danced in Bimbo`s chorus line. Maestro Arthur Fiddler of the Boston Pops learned the Twist there, Louis Prima, Sid Caesar, Joey Bishop, Rusty Draper, Rodney Dangerfield all played the club in its heyday. Latter Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Neil Diamond, Glen Campbell and The Fifth Dimension played in the 60`s.
Bimbo`s is no longer a supper club it was with its own chef, orchestra, chorus line, and Master of Ceremonies. It is now available for rental. There is an annual fundraiser held there for Oakland drug treatment program and many wonderful performers have played for that benefit. Bonnie Raitt, Steve Miller, Chris Issak, Huey Lewis and others. The club offers a wide variey of entertainment, mixing alternative and rock and roll and even dressed up crowds pretending it is the forties again. Cellular One, Oracle, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and Yahoo! book the club for their parties and special events. The last show I attended was just a few months months ago when I had the pleasure of seeing the legendary organist Jimmy Smith perform.
